Is anybody working on this ?

Alexander, would you have any more details on how to proceed toward this goal ?

@Serge

I'm self working on this and patches will come around opening trunk for 1.9A. I
won't break 1.8 functionality.

This is good news :-)

About the release target,
I concur that it wouldn't be good to go too fast, if the patches are risky;

Now, knowing that MAS release future has currently become hard to predict,
I would think that:
Xpfe to Toolkit updates could be welcomed before v1.8b2, to be auto-included in
"aviary v1.1" (which will then have several months to be tested);
Toolkit to Xpfe updates could be just as good to go in now, since we don't even
know if there will ever be a v1.8f _release_;
Afterall, aren't the synchronization involving features which have already been
landed & tested in one of the two software...

Then, what about attaching (some) patches, (try to) getting (super-)reviews, and
ask the module owner(s) what they think of this in the process ?

I've spoken with biesi and we have made the point that we do the most things
after trunk opens for 1.9A. Also there will be a mozilla 1.8 release (done by
asa / Mozilla Foundation or by the #mozilla.de team). Making patches yet may be
go to bit rotted patches and also my time for this month is a bit short.
We are currently working on getting SeaMonkey to build with some of the new (toolkit/XULRunner/whatever) infrastructure (trunk only), would be nice to see some progress on this front as well...
mork-based history is getting remove from toolkit as of bug 383833 and we're working on getting SeaMonkey to use places history in bug 382187 - can this bug be closed?
