This is definitely not a javascript console bug. The only differences between the two browsers that I can see are: 1. The lack of a "set homepage" link, which is caused by an IE-specific HTML directive. 2. The lack of Windows Media Player showing in the top right. Not sure if the reporter is referring to that specifically. I'm using Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8a6) Gecko/20041221 Firefox/1.0+.
Summary: This plain html page just doesn't show properly. → This plain html page just doesn't show properly.

This is an automated message, with ID "auto-resolve01". This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code. While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug (given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more reproduction information if you have it. If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved. Thank you for your help in this matter. http://www.ritrovo.virtuale.org/ , this page still doesn't show properly. No Windows Media Player controls showing in the top right and no sound reproduction whatsoever. It doesn't even asks for a plugin to be downloaded in order to play the background sound.

I don't know much about plugins, but that page has this: <object classid="CLSID:22D6F312-B0F6-11D0-94AB-0080C74C7E95" codebase="http://activex.microsoft.com/activex/controls/mplayer/en/nsmp2inf.cab#Version=5,1,52,701" type="application/x-oleobject" width="200" height="23" vspace="0" border="0" standby="Loading Microsoft® Windows® Media Player components..." id="wmplayer"> ..and no fallback content. I believe the above tag refers to IE-specific ActiveX object, and page's authors must change the page if the want it to be Firefox-compatible. I guess I'll move this to evangelism. I think you firefox's people are incurring in the same microsoft's arrogance driven mistake. As I see it, you have stopped developing a lighter and stable browser then IE and are know concentrating in creating another "monopoly". I think firefox has his days counted if only seeks to imposing its own standards and doen't not adapt to existing ones. Francesco Errante

(In reply to comment #6) The object tag with classid that Nickolay identified is Microsoft only ActiveX means to invoke an ActiveX control. It is their arrogance involved.

Comment 5 is still occurring almost three years later, but I'm not convinced this site is worth evangelising. Bob, feel free to change the resolution if you wish, but I'm going to WONTFIX for now.
