See in Thunderbird 1.0 and newer build on 12/21/2004.

For example :
- I run a search in a directory "tree" (with many sub directory) in Search
Messages window
- I click on "Date" for run a sort with date for search criteria
- Then, I have a strange sorted list of messages with many errors :
1) 19/04/2004 00:32
2) 18/04/2004 23:48
3) 28/01/2003 01:20
4) 24/03/2003 00:05
5) 06/08/2004 18:47
6) 30/06/2004 11:54
I am unable to reproduce the problem with TB 1.0, Win2K.

*** Bug 305696 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
This bug seems to be always there in 1.5.0.5 version of Thunderbird.
Maybe, it's due to local setting (French date order dd/mm/yyyy).
I agree with Wayne's Bug 369866 Comment 8, it's more than unlikely that this has ever worked.
Short of reopening this bug, let's dupe it to bug 369866 which has more information.
