The columnpicker of trees (own trees but also the ones in mails folder/thread pane and bookmark manager) doesn't work as it should. When using it to remove a column, it does. But after clicking on a list entry to add (back) a column, the column doesn't appear and the mouse cursor stays in a drag and drop mode. Pressing Esc then cancels that. Using the keyboard to navigate in the list and select an entry works! The interesting thing is, I can only reproduce that on Linux. On Windows everything works fine. I narrowed the introduction of that bug down to the time between release of Mozilla 1.8a3 and 1.8a4. All Mozilla and TB builds since then show this problem.

I believe this may be a duplicate of bug 276756. I have seen this effect occasionally with the column picker, but normally I just get the problems in bug 276756.

(In reply to comment #3) > sorry I meant bug 261959 Yeah, that looks at least very narrow (I always included "tree" in my searches and so didn't find that bug :-(). What makes me a little unsure is that in bug 261959 people write about regression happened in July but I don't see it in 1.8a3 and a nightly from 20040819. Additionally I only see it when adding, not when removing a column. But if anyone think it's a dupe, just close this bug.
