Have now installed 3 different versions of Thunderbird on each the same thing
has happened program installs, mail page comes up with set as defaulf box. After
checking the box it freezes, ctrl, alt, del shows the program "Not Responding"
The odd thing is that the thunderbird mail will send email if you click on a web
page email address.
Not a blocker:
  https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/page.cgi?id=fields.html#bug_severity
It may be blocking your use, but it is quite clear that the vast majority of TB
1.0 users are not encountering this problem, and so this bug does not block
development or testing.

Have you installed any extensions? If so, try running TB in "Safe Mode" and
report on that behavior.

You mean that, *while* TB's main window is frozen, you can still open a Mail
Compose window? *And* that you can send that mail successfully?
