This is actually very similar (possibly the same) to bug #268827. I'm using TB
1.0 with a Courier IMAP server, and TB suddenly stopped showing new messages,
updating message list in folders, downloading messages for offline use etc.,
even if I could still read online messages and send replies. I later noticed
that my disk was full, but I had never got any error message from TB. 

Also, after freeing up space most of the operations resumed normally, but
sometimes operations appear messed up - for example, I click on a message and it
doesn't get shown. I have to click somewhere else, sometimes even change folder,
then get back to the original message and this time it is eventually displayed.

(I'd have been glad to test the problem on the latest TB build, but it crashes
as soon as I launch it after installation...)
