I selected text on a javascript-result page and control-C'ed it to the
clipboard. I alt-tabbed to another application and pasted it into the other
application. I had missed some of the text. I returned to Firefox and the
entire text was now highlighted. When I clicked on a word to remove the global
highlighting nothing happened. When I double-clicked, that word inverted to
non-highlighted. Dragging the mouse across the paragraph REMOVED the
highlighting from whatever I'm selecting. Clicking once anywhere returns the
highlight to everywhere

I cannot re-create this. I am submitting this in case it confirms someone
else's report of a similar problem. I am not good at searching, and don't know
how to limit the search for "highlighted text" to any meaningful number of results.

On the specified URL, I selected Century-10, quatrain 60 to 60.
I don't know what the Bugzilla "version" field means by branch versus trunk.
Help/about says mine is

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0

I'm running on XP/SP2 with all patches auto-applied by IE auto-update.
Version: unspecified → Trunk
I am also unable to reproduce this under Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT
5.1; en-US; rv:1.8a6) Gecko/20041231 Firefox/1.0+.
Could you also change the version to "1.0 Branch" because you are running the
1.0 version of Firefox that was taken from the 1.0 Branch?
Per Chris Blore: FF 1.0 is from the Mozilla "1.0 Branch". Changed as requested.
Version: Trunk → 1.0 Branch
This is an automated message, with ID "auto-resolve01".

This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that
bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are
highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code.

While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we
are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce
this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a
copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and
you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug
(given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more
reproduction information if you have it.

If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not
changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved.
Thank you for your help in this matter.

not sure if i found the right bug but something similar has been happening to me
(1.5b1), did it in devshed forums just now when trying to select the text in a
div with overflow: scroll (or auto?) ... i pressed CTRL+A to select all, but it
selected the whole document, so i tried just clicking to cancel the selection
and then selecting the contents manually. but now the select hightlight refused
to appear, navigating back and forward and refreshing the page didnt help, only
when i minimised FF and returned and maybe looked at some other tabs did it let
me selct text in the page. i'll try to reliably recreate it

Greg, can you still reproduce this? I haven't seen it on Windows XP.
"If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not

The problem was in WinXP when I reported it, but it was a one-shot occurence.

I posted this report mainly as something that other people could add their reports to, if multiple people saw it. The only such "me too" was in 2005. I onlyh saw it the once.

How do I close this?
