I don't know how this usually works, because I've never filed a bug report
before. But, I was on the website (following the link sent to me in an email)
and I saw your question about me checking my firewall. My firefox browser was
working just fine for months UNTIL I clicked the automatic update button.
Then it stopped. If my firewall was the problem, would the firefox have
worked in the first place? BEFORE the update?

I'm not trying to get support, I'm trying to figure out why my browser stopped
working after I tried to update it, because I got the automatic update icon.
I've never had something like this happen before and CANNOT contact anyone
else at Mozilla to have asked the question. I PRESUMED it must be a bug,
because BEFORE I updated, the browser was working just fine - wonderful at
that! I don't even know if I'm doing any of this stuff correctly. I followed
the link I got in an email to the page saying my problem had been "resolved",
then saw your comment and one other. I don't even know how to READ the page
where I saw these comments, so I still don't know what anything means. I
can't find a contact email or phone number to ask anyone either. I really
liked the Firefox browser and would like to make it work again.
This has most likely been fixed by the new update interface.
Version: unspecified → 1.0 Branch
Oddie - the update mechanism has been completely overhauled since Firefox 1.0, starting but not limited to the updates towards 1.0.7.

The problem you are reporting may well have been fixed already and seems to disappear for the recent Fx 1.5 (1.5.0.1 ID:2006011112).

Could you please download a recent version of the Firefox 1.0.x branch or even a nightly build from <http://www.mozilla.org/releases/nightly.html>, and then let us know if you still see this problem?

Thanks,

Cigno
