User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20041020 Build Identifier: ftp.mozilla.org /pub/mozilla.org/mozilla/releases/mozilla1.7.5/mozilla-i686-pc-linux-gnu-1.7.5.tar.gz I downloaded the tarball and extracted it to /usr/local/mozilla. As root within xterm , I goto that directory and type "./mozilla". Mozilla windows do not appear and neither do any errors. I typed ps -A and i see mozilla is running. I have installed mozilla the same way many times and i made sure not to install over the previous and i removed the ~/.mozilla directory as always. I have fedora core 3 and it is currently a mimimum install with mimimum X11. I have got the tarball to work only after reinstalling the default system, which has gnome and someother packages. The problem seems to be that a package is missing that mozilla needs. Unfortunately i do not know how to find out what that package is. According to the README included in the tar ball, I have all packages satisfied. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.With a minimum fedora core 3 install with X11 only download a mozilla tarball 2.Verify that the dependencies of mozilla (gtk, etc) are met, and install accordingly 3.Run mozilla Actual Results: Mozilla is technically running but there is no gui and no errors. Expected Results: Mozilla should run and display itself or atleast display an error. fedora core 3 (fresh minimum install) X11 (minimal install) twm window manager or windowmaker window manager
is this still a problem? If yes, you can try kill mozilla-bin, delete /usr/local/mozilla/components/compreg.dat and start the app as root once THen as your own user. Any change?

This is an automated message, with ID "auto-resolve01". This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code. While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug (given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more reproduction information if you have it. If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved. Thank you for your help in this matter.
