The browser checker on the lloyds tsb site claims that Mozilla is "...unsuitable
for use with Lloyds TSB online". Netscape 6 is shown as being supported.

The browser checker can be accessed by going to lloydstsb.com and clicking the
"Find Out More" link below "Internet Banking" on the right-hand side. The
browser checker is launched using the "Is my browser compatible?" link on the right.
Mozilla is detected correctly by the web page. The thing is that they just do
not support Mozilla based browsers. I suppose they have the following browser
checking algorithm:
1. They detect the browser.
2. If the browser is IE or Netscape they allow us to use Internet banking,
otherwise it is not possible to use their internet banking service.

Their software just does not support anything else except Netscape and IE. So
the the problem can be resolved by Web Site owners. The bug has no relation
with Mozilla development process.
Mihails, thanks for your comment - just to let you know that this sort of bug is
what the "Tech Evangelism" product in Bugzilla is for ("For reporting web pages
that need to be upgraded to support web standards and Gecko-based browsers").
Whiteboard: [banking]
See bug 310993 for something wacky and unnecessary that an evangelist might also
ask lloydstb.com to fix in their JavaScript. When in JS, use // or /*...*/
style comments, not <!-- (which is a comment to end of line, so the --> that the
script uses to "close" the HTML comment is pointless).

/be
one of the best references/recommendations I've found for encouraging financial institutions to support firefox is located at bankers on-line web site

http://www.bankersonline.com/security/security_browserthreat070204.html

It was written in 2004 during the download.ject attack, but much of it still applies today. This is a good link to send when contacting banks.
Someone needs to send these jokers a large clue stick.

"You have: browser based on Mozilla 5.0
Optimum requirement: Netscape Navigator 6 and above or Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 and above
Result: [big red X indicating that your browser sucks]"

Netscape 6 was released in 2000 and succeeded by Netscape 7 in 2002. You would think six years is ample time for them to have realised that basically every single browser out there today is newer than Netscape 6.

Clearly, you would be wrong.
Summary: lloydstsb.com - browser checker rejects Mozilla → lloydstsb.com - browser checker believes Netscape 6 is the pinnacle of browser development
INCOMPLETE due to lack of activity since the end of 2009.

If someone is willing to investigate the issues raised in this bug to determine whether they still exist, *and* work with the site in question to fix any existing issues, please feel free to re-open and assign to yourself.
