With the release of Mozilla 1.7.5, automatic message filtering of new messages into the Inbox has stopped working. This problem has been noted in both the Windows (Win2k) and the Solaris 8 (GTK1 contrib) releases. Switching back to Mozilla 1.7.3 fixes the problem. Message filtering does work, since it can be run manually. Note: While searching bugzilla, it appears that this problem was present in pre-1.0 releases of Thunderbird. It is possible this bug/feature has crept into the Mozilla 1.7.5 build.

If non-working filter is filter for customized header, this bug is DUP of Bug 275190 or Bug 275558(probably DUP of Bug 275190), as Frank Wein says. > While searching bugzilla, it appears that this problem was present in pre-1.0 releases of Thunderbird. Matthew Stier, do you know the bug number of it?

I have experienced the same problem. Simply removing 1.7.5 and installing 1.7.3 restored automatic mail filtering. I did this twice with absolutely no changes to Moz profile data in between. This bug can be marked confirmed now (remains unconfirmed - leave it up to you).
