You can find the default action of multi-function buttons on toolbars in the
drop-down list regularly from the bold font. The default action for the "Get
Mail" button on the toolbar is not bold and is unknown to me.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Click on the triangle beside of the "Get Mail" logo on toolbar.
Actual Results:
There's no bold itam.

Expected Results:
The default action should be bold.
It would be nice to be able to configure the "Get Mail" command so that not all
accounts are included. I have an account for which I only send mail (never
receive). Because of that I am wasting bandwidth every time I receive mail (by
pressing F5 on the keyboard, or by clicking "Get Mail"). Perhaps a
"Settings..." option could serve both the original poster's purposes and the
purpose of selecting what should happen when "Get Mail" is clicked.

I don't disagree that this is incorrect, but I think it's because the "Get Mail" behavior is variable. By default, it seems to get mail from whatever account is currently selected. So, if you have multiple accounts with their own sets of folders (be they IMAP or just multiple local folder sets), whichever folders are selected define the account(s) that get checked. If you have multiple accounts that all use the same set of folders, they're all checked.

This is why TB has multiple identity support. Just create the send-only account as an identity on one of your other accounts, and create an appropriate outgoing server entry, and that way you won't have any incoming server for it to check. Of course, then there's no way to select it as the default (see bug 314806), but that's another issue.

I am using a laptop, and in some networks I must use a special outgoing server to send mail because port 25 is blocked on that network for any other than their own mailserver. I don't think I want to set up another "identity" for this purpose; I assume that means a new inbox. Look, I just want to be able to have multiple outgoing mailservers and not include all the corresponding incoming servers every time I check mail. Please look at how this is done in Outlook, it works great there. If there is some other way to do this, please advise! Thanks!
This is in part because the default action is "get messages for current
account or newsgroup" -- and newsgroups aren't listed in the dropdown.

My advice: ask questions in the newsgroups or forums; this is a bug tracking system, not a help desk. The problem you're having is only related to this
bug insofar as both are about the Get New Messages button.

I don't understand the point about bold

I don't either, but we don't even have that widget anymore.
