User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20040913 Webmouse/0.10.1 (All your Firefox/0.10.1 are belong to Firesomething)
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20040913 Webmouse/0.10.1 (All your Firefox/0.10.1 are belong to Firesomething)

Opening the .pdf file at the website listed above in Firefox causes (very) huge
system resources to be devoted to AcroRd32.exe. After some time struggling with
this, my laptop reported that FireFox had crashed.

I have not tried to reproduce it, as I don't want Cthulhu to eat my work laptop.

Reproducible: Didn't try

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Go to this page (I followed a link there):
http://www.cthulhulives.org/Solstice/lyrics/AwakeYe.pdf
2. Proceed to page 4 of the .pdf
3. Go get a cup of coffee while your machine runs out of Virtual Memory
4. Come back and watch FireFox crash

Actual Results:
Cthulhu ate FireFox.

Expected Results:
Let Cthulhu eat AcroRd32, but not FireFox (i.e., not crashing would be nice)

Sorry, didn't get which module it crashed in :(
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.8a6) Gecko/20050106
Firefox/1.0+

WFM , no crash

the pdf takes ions to load though (same as in IE).
btw, please update to Firefox1.0 , your build is too old.

Sorry, my bad about the Build Identifier - I logged it on the different computer
from the one that crashed - the correct build version is

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0

I was unable to reproduce this today. I must not be chanting loudly enough :-/
Update to acrobat reader 7.0 , it's much better and faster than 6.0

 -> WFM

feel free to reopen if it does happen agin.

You mean from Acrobat Reader 4.0.

Yes, that's a good start on a workaround :)
