RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 273356

Details

This is raised as a fresh bug because at least two (178820,271820) which relate
have been closed as supposedly patched. If patched then that doesn't seem to
have worked for TB1.0 under Win XP SP2.

Since migrating from OE to TB0.9 I, with POP3 mail, have always used settings
which should both require of my recipients and which also should prompt me to
respond to "read receipt" requests. I regularly correspond with another TB user
who has the same settings also using POP3. Neither of us has received any prompt
from each other since TB 0.9. Our correspondents on OE all receive our requests
and we receive their replies. We can receive our own and each other's prompts
instigated from TB while receiving under OE.

I witness that bug 271820 has not been fixed in TB1.0 even though, by its
association with 178820 which has been closed (marked FIXED) it has been
implicitly closed (but left as UNCONFIRMED).

This bug and 271820 refer to POP3. Bug 178820 refers to IMAP. Whether that is
relevant I don't know but

a) this problem still exists on TB1.0 under Win XP SP2
b) two people at least have already commented very firmly, under 178820 that it
and/or 271820 should not be closed because it is not fixed.

Bug 271820 is not fixed in TB 1.0. Please re-open 178820 (and include the nature
of 271820 in this problem) or 271820 (and recognize that in its STATUS) or both
or merge them into this as a new and real problem which has not been
successfully patched.

I regret if it seems incorrect to raise a clean bug report apparently
duplicating two others but since they have both been erroneously closed and
no-one seems to be paying any attention to the protests of other people who are
still affected by this problem, what else can I do???

Thank you. RDL
this was fixed after tbird 1.0, not *in* tbird 1.0 - please try a post 1.0 build
from here:
