Acrobat reports that PDF files does not start with '%PDF-' Downloading the file
and trying to open it in the main reader results in similar problems.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Download any PDF on http://www.sra.gov.uk/publications/
2. Alternatively, search for an Act at http://indiacode.nic.in/sht.asp (i.e.
'Railways') Clicking on Download Full Act results in Error.

Actual Results:
Acrobat reports that the file does not start with '%PDF-'

Expected Results:
The PDF file should have oppened. This works in Internet Explorer.
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.8a6) Gecko/20050107
Firefox/1.0+

Neither can any other of the major browsers (Opera7.5/IE6.0/Netscape7.2) view
the pdf's from http://www.sra.gov.uk/publications/

header type application/pdf seems ok so the files are probably corrupt.
I don't know why you claim IE can view it, I get an errormessage.

INVA ?
I downloaded a few pdf's and they are ok

that leaves something vague the server must be sending to confuse the browser
This is a server issue because the server seems to corrupt teh data if the
client support gzip Content decoding. it works if you disable gzip in the accept
header of Mozilla.

It may work in IE because IE5 for example doesn't support gzip..

Conforming summary to TFM item 10 at
http://www.mozilla.org/projects/tech-evangelism/site/procedures.html#file-new
Summary: PDF files fail to download correctly (Acrobat cannot read) → sra.gov.uk - PDF files fail to download correctly (Acrobat cannot read)
If this one site has problems with its server settings, I'm not sure I'd call it
an evangalism issue. And, according to comment #2 and comment #3, it seems
this bug is invalid. Anyone second that?
