Yes, please try JRE1.5.x
I installed the latest java plugin, and it seemed to work OK. So I clicked in the address box to type in the bugzilla address, but oddly the pull down menu didn't appear with history. Then I tried google.com and FireFox just went odd and wouldn't load - the throbber for example froze. Trying to load a website in a new tab also gave the same result - and this was all directly after I had loaded the java applet. What's more it wouldn't load again - clicking on '#sound' for example brought up the popup window but with an empty page (although a loading cursor). This had also happened once before with the new java plugin, but then firefox had just crashed. However, I have managed to get the java applet to appear, without Firefox crashing. It just went a bit odd later on as I mentioned above.
1. did you reboot after installing jre1.5 ? 2. give the applet some time, it loads very very slowly (2 minutes on my 2.2Mb adsl).
I haven't had this problem again... yet. But it just seems to me in general that jre is very buggy.
(In reply to comment #8) > I haven't had this problem again... yet. But it just seems to me in general that > jre is very buggy. Yeah, well it improves with every new FF and every new JRE version. No doubt it will be right one day ;-) setting ->WFM
