Favorite icon files are stored in the vendor specific MIME type of the name of
image/vnd.microsoft.icon, as
http://www.iana.org/assignments/media-types/image/vnd.microsoft.icon shows.

Files of this MIME type are, however, not properly recognized by Firefox, while
being assigned the former type of image/x-icon works. You may check
http://kirche-loettringhausen.de/presse/image/favicon.ico for an example of this.
the fix seems to be in the trunk (bug 252842), but in Fieefox 1.0 branch
Always add a version if you report a bug and if possible also test a nightly
build before
