User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0 I'm surprised I couldn't find another bug for this (appoligies of I missed it). I see no reason that we can move regular bookmarks around but not live bookmarks. Specifically: 1) Live bookmarks cannot be drag and dropped to new locations/folders as bookmarks can in the "Bookmarks" dropdown menu. 2) Likewise, live bookmarks cannot be moved in the "Manage Bookmarks" interface. I see absolutely no reason for this. I have a custom folder for RSS feeds in my bookmarks tab. Unfortunately since many web pages require that I add the feed manually via New Live Bookmark (paste URL), I have no way of adding the live bookmark to my special RSS folder. I have to manually edit the bookmarks.html file in my profile to relocate it. I should mention that manually cut and pasting the location of the live bookmark in the html file works PERFECTLY well, so I see zero reason it can't be done right in the interface like other bookmarks. Live bookmarks can be moved just fine in the bookmarks manager, and they can't be moved in the bookmark dropdown since they are just like folders. Why do you say they can't be moved? What happens when you try? If you are referring to the items in the live bookmarks, meaning each individual article or post. Those can't be moved because they represent the order the items are in in the actual RSS feed. The items are constantly changing anyways (hence the "live" in live bookmarks), so there would be no real point in being able to move them.

No, I'm speaking about the live bookmark themselves. As I stated above, I cannot drag and drop any live bookmarks, and the "Move" option is grayed out in the Bookmarks manager for any live bookmarks. Any normal bookmarks and folders both drag and drop, and "Move" just fine.

Any extensions installed that could interfere with that? Have you tried with a clean profile?

I just deleted C:\Docs and settings\app data\mozilla and reopened Moz. Added one live bookmark to test. Same thing, can't move it anywhere.

Well, then I don't know what the problem is then. You could try reinstalling Firefox itself. Also, are you sure you can move regular bookmarks?
Severity: enhancement → normal
Summary: Add ability to move Live Bookmarks. → Live Bookmarks can't be moved

I just did a totally fresh install of the 1.0 release, with another new app data directory. Diff test bookmarks. Same result; bookmarks move, live bookmarks do not. Maybe this was addressed after 1.0 was released?

No, the functionality was always there. I'm using 1.0 at the moment and it's working just fine. I see no reason why it wouldn't work.

You can move live bookmarks in the bookmarks menu by pressing the shiftkey and than move them

oddly enough, I had this happen, but reopening bookmarks manager worked, I can't reproduce now, but I've been playing with transaction manager bustedness on trunk so I dunno

If I press the shift key I just get that circle with a slash through it when I try to move (the action is not allowed). Again, only with live bookmarks.

Cyber Dog, those live bookmarks actually CAN be moved. It all depends where you are when you try to do so. In fact, I came across the same problem at first and I thought it's a bug. But after some thinking, I understood that live bookmarks are more like folders than bookmarks. So, when you're using Bookmark Manager, go to the folder containing the live bookmark that you want to move. Then, inside the right pane, you COULD move it. Or you could open the Bookmark sidebar. There, you could move it as well. This "bug" is actually a problem of the way how Bookmark Manager works. While everything in the right pane is moveable, everything in the left pane is fixed, thus this misunderstanding. On the other hand, bookmark sidebar seems to be a copy of the bookmark manager's right pane, so things can be moved. Maybe this bug can be closed as invalid?

This is an automated message, with ID "auto-resolve01". This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code. While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug (given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more reproduction information if you have it. If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved. Thank you for your help in this matter.
