Howdy

We are very pleased with Thunderbird. It is a wonderful full featured app. There
is one serious problem.  Please try to help.

Whenever I send a msg, a msg box pops up saying 
Status: Copying message to Sent folder

But it never goes away. I cannot do anything else.  I have to x out the window
and then x out the compose window, then when a Save Msg popup appears, I have to
select Don't Save.  
The good news is that the msg gets sent and save to sent folder.

But the bad news is that this is not automatic. 

Could you please fix it and let me know.

This is a long-standing bug in Mozilla too. It is years now and has not been fixed

Is this for IMAP mail?  There have been some recent fixes around several 
different apparent hangs when copying messages to the Sent folder; see in 
particular bug 287658, bug 123063, bug 163951.  

The fixes for those are in 1.5b1 and branch builds as well as trunk builds.

What version of Thunderbird are you using? Is your Sent folder a local folder or an imap folder? Is there anything on the js console? Have you tried tb 1.5rc2?

Version 1.0.6 (20050716)
 it may be an imap folder because I use imap.aol 
I have not tried 1.5rc2  How do I get it?

I experience the same problem. Thunderbird 1.0.6 on Mac OS 10.4. I've been experiencing this problem on all prior versions of Thunderbird.
The send folder is an IMAP folder. I'm also connecting to the AOL IMAP server. It says that it is copying the message to the send folder but it never finishes. The message is copied over however. So you can just close that window after a while. It still is quite annoying though.

As a workaround, try changing the Sent folder to be under Local Folders.

Thank you for the suggestion but I want to be able to access the mail when not at home. Putting sent mail into a local folder makes it accessible only on the local computer.
