User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20040910
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20040910

i am running Win XP Pro SP2. i had mozilla 1.7.3 installed and running OK.
i uninstalled it from the control panel->add remove programs.
then i tried installing mozilla 1.7.5.

i get the error message during installion: "Error occured durring installation -
US Region Pack: -208 INVALID_ARGUMENTS". the installion process stops
immediately and is incomplete.

at this point mozilla is partially installed and will not run.

there is no uninstall entry so what is there cannot be uninstalled.

attempting to install mozilla 1.7.3 which was previously working fine gets the
SAME failed results: "Error occured durring installation - US Region Pack: -208
INVALID_ARGUMENTS".

note that this was previously reported against mozilla 1.5 on Win98 in Bug
222790 without resolution or investigation.

this leaves the system with no way to get an operational mozilla.

this is critical!

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. uninstall previous mozilla
2. run win installer 1.7.5
3. fails with stated error message

Actual Results:
i get the error message during installion: "Error occured durring installation -
US Region Pack: -208 INVALID_ARGUMENTS". the installion process stops
immediately and is incomplete. it has no uninstall and older versions (such as
1.7.3) cannot be installed either.

Expected Results:
installation completes successfully.
an uninstall entry is available in the windows add remove programs list.

this was previously reported against mozilla 1.5 on Win98 in Bug 222790 without
resolution or investigation.
Note- the User-Agent and Build Identifiers inserted by Bugzilla does not apply
to this bug since it had to be reported from a system other than the one the bug
was encountered on. that system's mozilla is down as originally reported.
Version: unspecified → 1.7 Branch
I have discovered how to get around this bug.

Simply manually delete the entire instalation directory contents. In my case, I
removed C:\Program Files\mozilla.org\Mozilla\*

I did not have to worry about my profiles as they are stored in a completely
separate tree. Others may have to preserve their profiles before deleting the
installation directory if that is where they keep their profiles.

Once done, the installation of mozilla 1.7.5 worked correctly.
*** Bug 222790 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
I have 1.7.5 installed on Win XP Pro SP2. Without uninstalling it I ran the
windows installer for 1.7.6.

I get the same error message during installion: "Error occured durring
installation - US Region Pack: -208 INVALID_ARGUMENTS". the installion
process stops immediately and is incomplete.

I can rerun the installer and I get the same error.

I will attempt to uninstall 1.7.5 and remove the installation directory as I
had before in order to work around this.

This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that
bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are
highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code.

While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we
are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce
this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a
