RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 198594

Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0

I am working on a client network, and access my home office network via VPN
(Aventail Connect 5.31.183). The VPN redirects all 10.* traffic to our corporate
network. The client network is also using 10.* ipspace. It is necessary for me
to enable the VPN to access corporate resources and disable the VPN to access
client resources. I find that when I accidentally attempt to open a client site
with the VPN enabled, Firefox returns the error that the website refused the
connection. If I then disable the VPN, Firefox continues to return the error
that the connection was refused. Closing and reopening Firefox clears the
problem and allows me to access the client resource.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Establish a http resource where the IP address is redirected by an Aventail
VPN client when running. (E.g., a 10.* IP address, where all 10.* traffic is
redirected when the VPN is enabled.) The IP address should not be a valid http
location when redirected by the VPN.
2. Open the Aventail client.
3. Attempt to open the http address. Firefox should return the error that the
site refused the connection.
4. Close the Aventail client.
5. Click reload. Firefox should still return the error that the site refused the
connection, although the path to the resource is now valid.
6. Restart Firefox.
7. Revisit the resource. It should now be accessible.

Actual Results:
Firefox continues to state that connection is refused until it is restarted.

Expected Results:
Once the VPN client redirecting the traffic is disabled, Firefox should fetch
the website when clicking reload.
Bug 209731 would solve you're problem. Firefox caches DNS entries, but those
should expire after 60 seconds.

The problem with this reload / shift-reload debate is that when I try to load
the page in question from a bookmark or bookmark toolbar button, the address bar
does not populate with the failed web address. Reload or shift-reload isn't an
option, unless I've manually typed in the address.

That would be bug 157004.
