User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.8a6) Gecko/20050110 Firefox/1.0+ Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.8a6) Gecko/20050110 Firefox/1.0+ I have the "Tabbed Browsing -> Open links from other applications in: a new tab in the most recent window" option set. This works fine for most links. However, links like "www.google.com" that have no http:// in front cause a new window to be opened. This happens fairly frequently when people mention URLs in mIRC, but it can be reproduced just by using the command line. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Set the "new tab in the most recent window" option 2. Start->Run->"firefox www.google.com" Actual Results: A new window is opened with Google in it Expected Results: A new tab should be opened in the existing window with Google in it Try running "firefox http://www.google.com" instead to see the contrast.

With the fix to bug 276588 URLs without http:// from external applications now do not work at all. See in particular bug 276588 comment 60.

I can confirm this. Was brought to my attention when I clicked a link in mIRC as noted in the description. I can also reproduce by the steps listed, although step 1 does not seem to be necessary (any option selected will reproduce for me). Well the first step doesn't make a difference now since URLs without http:// are now completely broken, but there was a point in the past where they worked but would not respect your tab preferences. I assume even if it was fixed so that the URLs work, the tab preference issue would need a separate fix.
