Kmail has a nice feature to couple an identity to specific folders. When "Create
new Message" is executed, the default idenity of the current open folder is
selected.

Agreed that this would be corking.

I just moved from Gnus to Thunderbird (yeah, finally got sick of mailcrypt not
being actively maintained, though I do miss using XEmacs as everything short of
web browser), and this is the one feature of Gnus that I used I haven't been
able to duplicate.  The specific reason I need this is that I sign up for
mailing lists as krose+???@krose.org where ??? is something associated with the
mailing list (e.g., "mythtv" or "fontconfig") in order to make procmail
splitting easier; unforutunately, this means I need to *send* from that address
as well.
