Details
As a systems/network administrator, I sometimes access a network appliance under 2 user IDs: administrator and as a regular user. Firefox will not let me open separate sessions to the same IP address under 2 different accounts simultaneously. The last account I login under overrides the previous login, whether it is in a different tab or even if I open a second instance of Firefox.

You don't ever open a second instance of Firefox, just additional windows of the same instance. This is basically bug 117222, but that one is talking about cookies... somewhere we've got the same thing for auth prompts, but the basic cause is the same. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 117222 ***
