Emails that have attachments which have been saved to HD can be reopened using
TB to view the message but the nested files attached to the email can not be
extracted.

I have a n email with a pdf attachemt.
I save it using SAVE AS -->FILE to HD / disk.
I OPEN SAVED MESSAGE and the email body is showing but the pdf is only listed.
I can not extract the pdf from the email.
There is no lower attachment box at the bottom of the screen as in the
original email before it had been saved.
The attachment is present inside the .eml (Viewed with OE)

Here is what seems like related behavior, where I cannot retrieve an attachment
that was attached to a saved email.

1. start an email with a binary attachment.
2. everything's fine -- you can save or open the attachment.
3. save the email as a file (File / Save As)
4. start a new email to yourself
5. attach the file that is the saved email, then send it.
6. when you open the attachment on this new email, once you've received it,
it looks fine, and the original binary attachment is correctly listed, but
if you try to open it, you get the message: "Unable to save the attachment.
Please check your file name and try again."

Why would anyone care about this? In my case, it's because our company mail
server wraps email with binary attachments in a warning email that says
something about being careful of viruses. When I try to open the email and then
the attached binary file, I get the above problem. So this is actually an
important bug to me.

This is with Thunderbird version 1.0 (20041206) running on Win2K.
This is an automated message, with ID "auto-resolve01".

This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that
bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are
highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code.

While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we
are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce
this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a
copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and
you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug
(given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more
reproduction information if you have it.

If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not
changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved.
