Details

It would be great to make applications that read/write/synchro to the
Thunderbird Address book. In order to that easily the database should be stored
in a much more  common format. XML seem to be the right. 

Changing is not as big as changing the whole address book (although that would
also be nice). The UI does not need to be modified.
XML-export is bug 30621
It is not just exporting but storing as XML.


Exporting means that any time you want to synchro with another app, you have to 
1.- Open Thunderbird
2.- Open the Address Book
3.- Export it to XML
4.- Synchro with your APP, 
5.- Import from XML

Storing as XML means that steps 1,2,3&5 would not be needed.

no plans to replace our database for address book any time soon.
