Although I have seen a few instances of reported bugs, I don't see any
fixes. Although minimizing the window temporarily reduces the memory, it returns
quite quickly to prior level.  Also, when closing the browser, I have to use a
memory mananger to reaquire memory used by Firefox.   I also have a sound issue
with Firefox.  I have a financial web site that updates and notifies me when
this has occured.  In IE it works and in Firefox it does not.  Is there a
solution for this for Firefox?

    the real issue is memory however.  Firefox works very nicely, however the
memory situation should be addressed immediately.  I may have to stop
recommending it to my customers and refrain from using it myself. 

   Please advise

Well known problem
Since you do not address any specific leak I suppose this bug is INVALID
