Details
Steps to reproduce:
1- Enter a folder (say inbox) of an account but without selecting (highlighting)
an email.
2- Then View/Layout/Show Message Pane (or <F8>) to collapse
3- and View/Layout/Show Message Pane (or <F8>) to expand
will create an error report in the javascript console:
Error : uncaught exception: [Exception... "Component returned failure code:
0x8000ffff (NS_ERROR_UNEXPECTED) [nsIMsgDBView.suppressMsgDisplay]" nsresult:
"0x8000ffff (NS_ERROR_UNEXPECTED)" location: "JS frame ::
chrome://messenger/content/commandglue.js :: ChangeMessagePaneVisibility :: line
732" data: no]
Expected results: no javascript error reported in console.
I could not find a duplicate for this. I have not checked if the error report
happens in any Thunderbird trunk builds.
There is no apparent or noticeable problem caused by the error.
Thunderbird 1.0 build 20041206 under XP Pro SP2 here.

I don't see this with TB 1.0.
Do you have any extensions installed that could cause this problem? Do you see
the same symptom if you run Thunderbird in Safe Mode?

No extension.

I get the same error message in the javascript console when in Safe Mode.
Make sure you select a folder *without selecting/highlighting an email message*.
I have tried it with the inbox folder, the sent folder and the trash folder and
the error message appears consistently in all 3 layouts: View/Layout Classic,
Layout Large and Layout Vertical.
