RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 180672

People

(Reporter: baldauf--2015--bugzilla.mozilla.org, Unassigned)

Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8a6) Gecko/20050111
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8a6) Gecko/20050111

additionally, downloading using menu "File/Save Page As..." or context menu
"Save Link Target As..." plainly does not work. It opens a "Save As..." dialog,
but then no file will ever be saved.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Click on the "Tools" menu
2. Then click on the "Download Manager" menu item

Actual Results:
Nothing happens

Expected Results:
The "Download Manager" window should appear.

This is a regression. With Mozilla 1.8a5, it worked, with Mozilla 1.8a6, it does
not work.
Try if the URL of Bug 180672 helps or the deletion of the file compreg.dat. If
so, this bug is a duplicate.
Okay, that hint helped. I uninstalled mozilla completely using the uninstall
wizard. Within that process, "compreg.dat", was deleted. After installing
mozilla again, downloading now works.
I'm sorry, but only after one day of use, the problem reappeared again (without
doing any install inbetween).

And, does about:plugins help (see my comment 1)? The workaround is not
persistent for a specific time.
