Here's what happened : On MacOS 10.2.8 (Jaguar) running on a PowerMac G4 400 Mhz 768 Mb RAM, when you read a newsgroup message, when a line begins with a dot "." Thunderbird 1.0 downloaded about two weeks ago (Mozilla Thunderbird 1.0 (Macintosh/20041206)) and Mozilla 1.7.3 (downloaded previously, much older : Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; fr; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20040910)) display two dots. If the line begins with two dots, then you'll see three and so on. It occurs everytime, and to reproduce it you can simply send a message with lines beginning with one and more dots to a test group, like news:fr.test With Mozilla under Windows XP I don't have this problem. Here's an example, first the message body as one could write it, and after how it's displayed : .. blah blah blah. cd folder1/folder2 ./ script.command ... blah blah blah. cd folder1/folder2 ../ script.command Another example : I tested it on Mozilla 1.7.3 with the message which ID is : cqqpoe$c93$1@news.tiscali.fr , a visit to Google Groups could provide some information (headers, etc.) I did not try it with e-mail messages, and I don't have access to a Macintosh anymore. I couldn't try it with a newer build, sorry.
It seems to do fix once according to the following comments. https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=47606#c11 Please bug47606 Re-open bug47606, if the problem reproduces. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 47606 ***
