Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0 Build Identifier: Thunderbird 1.0RC1 User was on Communictor 4.7 sending email's with >50 BCC users. Changed to Thunderbird - sending seems fine - but no users received the send. No error reported at time of send. User can send email to smaller groups of names, not tested where the break point is, so cannot say if it is <50, or <20. Failed messages have at least 58 valid email users either in a BCC, or TO of the header. User moved back to Communicator 4.7 and can send these messages everytime. Same computers, same settings, etc. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Create any email message with large number of TO, or BCC users >50 2. Send email 3. Check and find email not reached intended users. Actual Results: Checked with sample (about 15 users) and no one had received the message. Expected Results: Expected to send an email to each destination user in TO, or BCC of the email. No errors found on system. XP system kept with current MS "critical" patches. Runs Mcafee for virus scan, no firewall used on system. This is the only failure on the system and as stated Communicator 4.7 continues to work flawlessly for this user. I have tried to read the FAQ's, User Forums and existing bug reports before posting this.

Get protocol log and attach log file to this bug (don't paste long log). See http://www.mozilla.org/quality/mailnews/mail-troubleshoot.html#smtp for protocol log. Do not forget to change "protocol:5" to "SMTP:5" for SMTP. Please note that log file is overlayed on restart of Mozilla.
Summary: Sending email to large number (>50 users) fails to send, no error reported → Sending email to large number (>50 users) fails to send, no error reported

SMTP trace showed email name rejection. Email names converted from Communicator 4.7 found to have the invalid format name "email"@name.com - the " marks were in error and when removed, allowed the email to be successfully sent. This may simply be errors induced by conversion of existing names from C4.7 Changed the priority of report to NORMAL. Component changed to INSTALLER ps: The trace batch file format in XP needs to be set NSPR_LOG_MODULES=protocol:5 set NSPR_LOG_FILE=c:\tmp\filename "c:\full path of program.exe" after each test, rename the filename to filename.x to save each test sequence. Thank you for the help diagnosing this problem

(In reply to comment #2) > Component changed to INSTALLER Why was this? Do I understand comment 2 to mean that the addresses from the old address book should have had the quote marks removed? If so, that's a MIGRATION bug; and I imagine there is already a bug open about that problem.

This is an automated message, with ID "auto-resolve01". This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code. While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug (given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more reproduction information if you have it. If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved. Thank you for your help in this matter.
