278927 - cannot copy / paste text from firefox if the Manage Bookmarks window is open in background

Attempting to copy paste a URL from the address bar, into an email message in my
internet mail.  I can't copy paste from the address bar. 

Once I closed the manage bookmarks window, the ability to copy paste came back.
 It's as if it disabled the clipboard while it was opened. 

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
0. start with a page with form content.. like an internet email in one tab
1.create a new tab in brower
2.open manage bookmarks
3. search for a bookmark
4. double click on result, usually opens in your new empty tab. 
5. try to copy paste the URL from the new tab addres bar into your Other email
tab.  
6. if it doesn't work, close the manage bookmarks window and try again.

Actual Results:  
couldn't copy / paste

Expected Results:  
allowed copy paste

this is really low priority I think, but I thought you might like to know about it.

What icon do you have as you drag the URL? Is it a circle with a line through
it, or is it an arrow with a shaded box outline?

NOTE: this is not just related to bookmarks and seems to be a pretty major
annoyance. 

I can confirm this (Using firefox 1.0.6 under Windows XP+SP2)!  I have had the
same problem on MULTIPLE PC's.

I have unsucessfuly tried to copy text numerous times from the address bar and
from text boxes (such as this one!).  I have tried Control-C or RightClick+Copy.

In 2 of 3 attempts, copying text fails, and whatever was previously in the
clipboard remains.

This seems to happen most dealing with editable boxes (i.e., textboxes,
addressbar, and even the search box next to the address bar).  It also seems
like the more text I highlight, the less likely it is to get copied into the
clipboard.

When I attempt to paste, whatever was previously in the clipboard gets pasted.

This has been an issue since at least as far back as 1.0.4, maybe earlier.

As far as I have seen the bug occures if a text is selected in an other window.
There is also a related bug with <end> <pos1> <cursor>-keys.
With designmode="on" there is a workaround. First type a letter and than try again.

The copy/paste bug is not minor bug. This is a major bug.
The bug is still present in the lates 1.5 beta1 and 1.5 beta svg cairo test.

bz, dj, is this always reproduceable according to the steps in comment 0, or do you have other steps.  Does it happen with a current trunk build of FF in safe mode?

correction - NONE of the above are firefox bugs.  and 101539 is a keyboard issue, not copy/paste specifically

Tested Configuration & Build:
Firefox: 1.5.1 rv 1.8; Hardware: PC; OS: Windows XP 

This bug was not reproduced in the latest build of Firefox(1.5.1 rv1.8). Different  webmails were tested out. They include gmail, hotmail and squirrelmail. I was able to copy past a URL from the address bar, into an email message in my internet email with the manage bookmarks window open(Bookmarks-->Manage Bookmarks)

Also, this bug did not exist if the internet mail and the text selected was in a different window and not a different tab.

Overall, this bug does not exist in the latest build of Firefox(1.5.1 v1.8) as well as the last release of Firefox(1.5 v.1.8)

correct resolution is WORKSFORME, when problem is resolved but the specific fix is not known.
