I entered ecse4750-subscribeXXXecse.rpi.edu in the TO field and the person who made the list said to replace the XXX with @ but before I even get a chance, Thunderbird adds @rpi.edu to the end. When I try to remove it, it keeps putting it back. I had to replace the XXX with @ first in order to remove the @rpi.edu. Normal replacement methods don't force the replacement on you.

I see this, and you're right -- once you've deleted the local-domain addition, it should not be added back simply because you've clicked elsewhere in the currently displayed string. I would go so far as to say that, ideally, if you've explicitly removed the "@local.dom" via Del (or Bksp) that further completion with "@local.dom" should be turned off. xref bug 93453, which is a more general bug about turning off the local-domain completion.

Was this fixed by bug 93453 ? If not, could this be a duplicate of bug 131692 ?
