please try to reproduce this bug with a new version of thunderbird and a fresh profile. having three or more pop3 accounts shouldn't be a problem usually.
I am having a similar problem, where no settings have changed and Thunderbird has stopped downloading messages. Additionally it will not connect to any SMTP server that I have access to. I have 4 accounts, 3 POP access and 1 IMAP, the IMAP account will read messages, but not send, the POP accounts will not download new messages. Reproduceable: Always since it started (3 days or so ago) Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open program 2. Check Mail 3. Stare at busy icon or for the SMTP problem 1. write / reply to email 2. send mail 3. watch "connecting to SMTP.XXX.XXX" for hours on end windows version 1.0 (20041206) i think this is the current build.

Broadus: your problem is apparently an authentication problem. @ everybody reporting this problem: have you made sure that all settings are correct, as dictated by your ISP or other POP provider? If no one responds that this problem still exists within 3 weeks, I will resolve as INCO. By the way, for future reference, such networking problems belong in Core -> Networking: POP.
