User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0; .NET CLR 1.0.3705) Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 Firefox/1.0 The DNL Reader will not install under Firefox because it is not listed on your plugins site (I think). Could you please add it to your plugins site: http://digitalwebbooks.com/reader/xpinst.xpi Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Go to http://www.dnaml.com/sample_displaybook.asp?name=HOME_SAMPLE1 2. The DNL Reader will not install even thought it does under other Mozilla clients (eg Netscape 7.1) 3. Actual Results: The plugin works perfectly when manually installed, or installed by dragging xpinst.xpi onto Firefox. Expected Results: The plugin should install normally as it does with other Mozilla clients After extensive searching, I cannot find any information on Mozilla plugin signing. There seems to be a lot of confusion. We have a certificate and I have tried signing using signtool. Do you have a link with up-to-date information? Thanks Dan Amos dana@dnaml.com
Did you want the Plugin Finder Service to link to this so that when you click the puzzle piece it downloads it? Your web page has two values for codebase <object classid="clsid:164B406B-0FD6-4E7F-BA7E-64D227D4CA37" codebase="http://www.digitalwebbooks.com/reader/dbplugin.cab#version=5,5,0,04" ... codebase="http://www.digitalwebbooks.com/reader/xpinst.xpi"> </object> I'm researching who is responsible for plugins.

Hello Dan, To get your plugin listed in our system I need the following information for all operating systems you want your plugin to be available to: - The mimetypes to map to your plugin - The name of the plugin - The version (optional) - URL to a 16x16 gif/jpeg icon (optional) - Location of the XPI file - URL for manual installation (if the XPI couldn't be downloaded, optional) - License URL (optional) - Does the installer show UI? - Does the plugin require a browser restart before working? Give me that and I'll start looking at adding the info to our service.
The MIME type for the DNL Reader is: application/x-dnl Plugin Name: DNL Reader - npdbplug.dll Current Version: 5.5.0.5 (it gets updated regularly) URL to 16x16 icon: http://digitalwebbooks.com/reader/dwb16.gif Location of XPI file: http://digitalwebbooks.com/reader/xpinst.xpi URL for manual installation: http://digitalwebbooks.com/reader License URL: not required Installer shows UI: Automatic install (xpinst.xpi): NO. Manual Installer: YES Does the plugin require a browser restart: Only if plugin is already in use by browser Do you have any info on signing the plugin? thanks Dan

All done. I set the version to 5.5, when you guys update it to a version number that isn't 5.5 let me know and I'll change it. We don't have clear instructions on how to sign an XPI yet. If you absolutely need your XPI signed, then email me and I'll try to get you in touch with the appropriate people to walk you through it. Closing bug as FIXED.

Thanks Johnny. The signature is not critical. Some browsers (eg Netscape) indicate that it is unsigned, which could be a turn off for some people. regards Dan

Yeah, we're fully aware of that, and hopefully at some point we'll have a good set of clear instructions and pre-built tools etc for signing XPIs, but we don't yet. You might find the page http://www.mozdevgroup.com/docs/pete/Signing-an-XPI.html useful for now though.
