Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8a6) Gecko/20050111 Local HTML files with Traditional Chinese (Big5 encoding) characters in its name, e.g. 道.html, or path, e.g. C:/中論/foo.htm, can't be opened. IME installed: English, Chinese(Taiwan) Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Case one: 1. Create an HTML file with Traditional Chinese (Big5 encoding) characters in its name, e.g. 道.html and save it to say C:/. The content of the file doesn't matter. If you use Composer to create the file, Composer will change the filename so that it becomes _.html in Windows Explorer. Rename it after it's created so that the name still displays in Traditional Chinese correctly. 2. Use Firefox's menu File | Open File ... to select the file 道.html to open. It creates Alert 'The file /C:/_.html cannot be found. Please check the location and try again.' and it won't open the file. I can use Internet Explorer 6.0 to open the same file successfully using the same steps. Case two: 1. As above 2. Use Windows Explorer to browse to the directory the file is located. Double click on the file name to open it using Firefox (my default browser). If Firefox is already running, its program icon will flash, and Alert 'The file /C:/_.html cannot be found. Please check the location and try again.' and it won't open the file. IE 6.0 again opens it successfully. Case 3: Similar to case one and two, but use Big5 characters in folder name, and ASCII in HTML file name. e.g. create a folder named 中論 and a file foo.htm under it. Firefox again fails to open the file C:/中論/foo.htm. Actual Results: Alert 'The file /C:/_.html cannot be found. Please check the location and try again.' and it won't display the HTML file. Expected Results: It should display the HTML file. IME installed: English, Chinese(Taiwan) Chinese path/file names are entered using Chinese(Taiwan) IME. It can also be copy/pasted from Big5 content. Results are the same.
case 2 is bug 263570, case 1 is bug 162361 (see for example dependent bug 193358), case 3 belongs to both (depends on how you open the file) I resolve it as dupe of bug 162361 and put you on the CC list from bug 263570. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 162361 ***
