MACXW4.DRV is the ATI driver crashing. Can you mention your video card and
driver version ? Then upgrade to latest video driver available on
http://www.ati.com/ and report if it fixes your issue.
Possible dupe of bug 162689 and bug 101055.

I had the same problem here, reproducable on http://www.guenstiger.de/
Updating the ATI driver did indeed solve the problem.
The System identified the video card as "ATI Xpert98D", I updated to the latest RAGE PRO Windows 98/ME Display Driver, which is version 4.13.2655.

Another problem seems to be solved by this update: sometimes when scrolling I got slices of the same image repeated over and over again. Now scrolling seems to work cleanly as well.

Given that updating the video driver solves the problem, this bug is INVALID (since it's not Firefox's fault). Resolving as such.
