User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.2) Gecko/20040804 Netscape/7.2 (ax) Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.2) Gecko/20040804 Netscape/7.2 (ax) Able to successfully install a standard version of Firefox 1.0 from both the CD and www.mozilla.org. In both installation cases, I chose the option to launch firefox after installation. Receive Alert message reading 'Unable to find start.mozilla.org. Please retaype and try again. Tried entering www.yahoo.com and www.google.com. Similar error message. Restarted PC, same errors. De-installed and re-installed (restarting after each process), still receive same error messages. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install Firefox 1.0 from either CD or www.mozilla.org. 2. After installation is complete, select option to automatically start firefox. 3. Actual Results: Error message: start.mozilla.org could not be found. Please retype and try again. Expected Results: Take me to start.mozilla.org.

Odds are you have a proxy that you need to configure Firefox to use. Check your existing browser settings and try entering the values seen there in Firefox's Tools->Options->General->Connection Settings.

brantley, have you been able to connect after adjusting your proxy server?

I have the very same problem and was unhappy to find out there has been no resolution so that Firefox is unuseable on my computer.
