Gerhard,
Since you didn't respond, and I cannot reproduce this bug, I'm marking it as
resolved: worksforme. If you determine that you can reproduce it with the
latest builds, you may reopen the bug, but be sure to include all of the
relevant information such as build-ID and steps to reproduce.

Sunbird/0.2
I've have uninstall the sunbird calendar and later I've reinstall the program.
Both the sunbird calendar and the calendar extension now don't show any start
time box and end time when creating a new event.
I've deleted all my profiles (including the ones of thunderbird and firefox) and
deleted all directories and registry entries I've found and I've have also
created a new calendar, but the error still occurs.
I'm using Windows XP Professional German with german time format.
I just can not specify the start and end time.
Greetings, Maria

Re-opening bug as a result of new reports of the behavior. I tried to track
down the problem in the localization files, but could find anything that jumped
out as wrong.
Adding "German de-AT locale" to summary.

In mozillaZine, Maria wrote:
"I uses the german date time format and a german operating system, but my
sunbird is the english version"
This implies that Marias, like Gerhard, is not using the de-AT translation.

Good point. Obviously I was looking for the problem in the wrong place. Still,
the problem seems to be specific to German users, so I think the summary
additions are good as they are. My best guess now is that it may have something
to do with the system date format used by German computers. (Something similar
to bug 257146 which deals with Asian date formats.) I've added Maria S to the
CC list, so she'll get this question.
Maria:
What is the standard date format specified by your operating system?

my date format is defined in this way:
Timeformat: HH:mm:ss
Time trenner: :
Date format short:
TT.MM.JJ
Date format long:
TTTT, T. MMMM JJJJ

I had the feeling that I had seen this before. In September last year I asked
the newsgroup:

I never found the answers. On my machine Sunbird is still immune. So this
might or might not be a clue.

Rod, did you mean for this comment to be put here or on Bug 292611?

I meant it to go here. I had not seen bug 292611.

Hurra, this was it. I have installed a program to view RSS / RDF feeds and it
has change the mimetype XBL to this program. Now I have restore the mime type to
XML. And it works.

That's good news.
So, to fix this, Calendar extension should handle XBL the way Sunbird does,
making it independent of the operating system's MIME type setting. Or perhaps
use XML instead, as Firefox does. Otherwise it should detect the operating
system's MIME type setting and warn the user if it is wrong. Perhaps Calendar
should not start if it is wrong.

The experimental calendar extension now uses .xml files, rather than .xbl. I'm curious whether anyone has managed to reproduce this in later builds?

Can anyone still reproduce in Sunbird/Lightning nightly builds?

The Calendar extension is no longer developed and I have not seen this issue with Sunbird (since 0.3a1) or Lightning (since 0.1) in any locale (including de). Resolving Worksforme.
