User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; de-DE; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041122 Firefox/1.0 Build Identifier: Thunderbird 1.0 build 20041206 If you're choosing to show a map for a not US address (containing umlauts like ö, ä, ü, ß, ...), mapquest is not able to handle these links / addresses. We should have another map service or l10n teams should be allowed to change the url to another map service. e.g.: Max Mustermann Pfungstädter Straße 41 64297 Darmstadt Germany Thunderbird opens this link, when clicking on "Get map": http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?country=Deutschland&address=Pfungst%C3%A4dter%20Stra%C3%9Fe%2041%20&city=Darmstadt&state=Hessen&zipcode=64297 Mapquest is not able to find the related map and states this: You searched for "Pfungstädter Straße 41, Darmstadt, Hessen 64297", MapQuest did not find this exact address, but found one very similar: "PfungstÄdter Strasse 41, Darmstadt, HESSEN 64297". The similar found address can't be shown, too. You've to change the provided link, so there are no "umlauts". Reproducible: Always

There are three possible solutions to this bug: 1) Change from Mapquest to another possible provider 2) Allow users (or l10n teams?) to change the map provider - in which case this bug becomes a duplicate of bug 254190 or bug 117154 (note the latter suggests there are hidden prefs already in existence) 3) Get Mapquest to support international characters (in which case this is invalid). Scott: do you have any preferences?
L10n teams can already change provider by editing the "mail.addr_book.mapit_url.format=" string in messenger-region/region.properties.

Looks like solution 1 did the job - Google Maps says that's at the corner of Pfungstädter Straße and Waldstraße.

(In reply to comment #3) > Looks like solution 1 did the job - Google Maps says that's at the corner of > Pfungstädter Straße and Waldstraße. Google Maps works for Germany since a year or so. Problem was resolved until Thunderbird 1.5.
