message filters do not run automatically when getting mail - the message filters
DO RUN when choosing Tools>Run Filters on Folder...

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create a message filter (e.g. sender is "x", move to Local Folders/specified
folder
2. Press OK to finish the filter
3. Update the message filters list and make sure that the created message filter
is checked as "enabled"
4. Get mail that matches the criteria used to create the message filter.
5. The filter does not run automatically when the mail is received.

NOTE: Preferences is set to NOT get mail automatically on startup and NOT to
automatically download mail.

Actual Results:
When getting new mail, no filter is run.

Expected Results:
When getting the mail, whether manually or automatically, the message filters
should run at that time.

Suggestion: add a schedule option to Thunderbird - so that you can schedule WHEN
you want the message filter to run. Example: Run message filter on:
Startup/Exit/Download (receipt) of mail/Advanced... (set a specific day of week
and time of day to run a message filter.
Reporter, if you use "GLobal Inbox", read FAQ [1] first.([2] is recommended too.
See [3] for others.)
 [1] http://kb.mozillazine.org/Thunderbird_:_FAQs_:_Filters
 [2] http://kb.mozillazine.org/Thunderbird_:_FAQs_:_Global_Inbox
 [3] http://kb.mozillazine.org/Thunderbird_:_FAQs
And read Bug 260373.
Then check your filter definitions of both the account and "Global Inbox"
account(probably "Local folders" in your case.)
DUP of Bug 260373 if Global Inbox is used.

> Suggestion:
Search bugzilla for open bugs of "Product=Core" and "Component=MailNews: Filters".
Almost all of your wants is already requested(probably as enhancement.)

By the way, couldn't you find Bug 260373?
This bug is kept open as Product=Thunderbird/Component=General bug for ease of
search, although INVALID and "Product=Core/Component=MailNews: Filters" is
appropriate...
Even if there is an explanation for this bug it's still a bug because the
default behaviour of the filters is not what most users would expect from this
program. Sorry for writing here instead of in bug 260373.

bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are
highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code.

(given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more
reproduction information if you have it.

Sorry for getting this old topic. Im using Postbox and i believe the core is based on Mozilla.

How can i run filters in sent folder. Now when i have a conversation and either reply or forward, this message is not in the conversation some how and only visible in the sent folder. This is really bad ofcourse! When i try use filter and make one using a certain filter to put that message in certain folder. THen suddenly that email is applied to all conversations, which is even more bad!
