I'm getting a "The connection was refused when attempting to contact ...." Alert
box, can't connect anywhere
my tree / build is up to date with 02/16 8:46 (nmake /f client.mak build_all
with VC6)
seems it's win32 only?

please tell us more about your environment, and what you've tried, the exact
text of error messages, and exact steps to reproduce. see:

  http://www.mozilla.org/quality/bug-writing-guidelines.html

for the kind of information that is useful in a bug.
I think it's DNS related
if I enter http://www.mozilla.org it fails, but
http://207.200.73.41 loads fine
Otherwise my DNS works fine ... I checked with nslookup
I'm using a NT box, SP5
I'm not very familiar with bugzilla, but I did a query for DNS bugs in the last
few days:

maybe you guys can find this bug is related to another one?
I think it may be this one: http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=27496
Some more comments after investigation:
I'm behind a firewall .. however netscape works fine without proxy settings. If
With mozilla I can connect to a local http server (on our LAN), but if I can't
connect to any server accross the firewall.
I've attached a log of nsSocketTransport: first I try and fail to connect to
www.mozilla.org, then I try to connect to my second box ttimo.dyndns.org (which
can only be reached from inside our network)
hope this helps
additional info from TTimo:

>>what happens if you open a telnet window, and try to connect to
>>www.mozilla.org port 80? can you connect to that port from
>>your machine?
>>
>>just wondering if it's a dns problem on your end, and not
>>a Mozilla problem.
>>
>>>try this:
>>% telnet www.mozilla.org 80
>>Trying 207.200.73.41...
>>Connected to gila.mozilla.org.
>>Escape character is '^]'.
>>GET /index.html

> yeah I tried that and it works...
> netscape works fine as well..
>
> TTimo
