User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1) Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-GB; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041110 Firefox/1.0 The website www.nutterz.com hosts a forum community using Invision Power Board (IPB) forum software. The problem is encountered when posting a message within the forums. When using Internet Explorer you can highlight a portion of the text you have entered and click a button to format the highlighted text (eg: B button makes the highlighted text bold face). When using Mozilla Firefox and other Mozilla browsers and you highlight the text and push the B button, the opening bold face tag ( [B] ) is placed at the end of all the typed text and it then waits for you to type or close the tags. So Mozilla places the formatting at the end of the typed text instead of applying the formatting to the highlighted text. It's almost as if it doesn't recognised the highlighted text. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Log in to forums and click to post or reply to existing message. 2. Type some text for your message. 3. Highlight a portion (not all) of that text and press one of the formatting keys (B, U, I, etc). Actual Results: The opening format tag was placed at the end of all the typed text and the IPB software then expects a closing tag (an * appears on the used formatting key, eg "B*") Expected Results: Applied the formatting (eg: bold) to the text that was selected/highlighted.

Whatever else "IPDynamic Lite(U) v1.0" is, it's from 2003, which is before the IPB folks knew how to get selected text from Moz (if not before it was possible to): current versions of at least their main product do just fine with selections in Firefox, so you either need to update to a new version, or wait for a fix to that product, or (worst case) are stuck on a dead end IPB branch - I didn't see any mention on their site of just what IPDynamic Lite(U) actually is, so dunno which. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 262499 ***
