Our testing suite sucks for not detecting those. (A bug about that would be
great!)

I checked the file for other explicit "bug" references but I couldn't find any.

This didn't exist in 2.16, requesting approval for 2.18 and trunk.

It does try -- but doesn't check inside directives. I created bug#280332
