I have not experienced a problem under linux, but with win2000 there is always this problem on my laptop. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. navigate to the url. 2. do dothing 3. Bang!! Actual Results: Crash Expected Results: Display the page

Can you post Talkback ID for this crash ? perhaps related to bug 268600 (although MacOSX).

wfm Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.8b) Gecko/20050127 Java(TM) 2 Platform Standard Edition 5.0 Update 1 Java Plug-in 1.5.0_01 for Netscape Navigator (DLL Helper) It took some time on my slow computer/connection until the login page came up, the java was loaded, and I was asked to accept the loading of a signed applet. The applet was signed by Thawte, certificate valid, not timed out. Which version of Java are you using, see about:plugins ?
