I'd like to be able to contribute to FAQs, documentation, help etc. In this case
I want to add information on getting free s/mime certificates and configuring
public LDAP servers to enable easy signing and encrypting of email with the
build in mozilla capabilities.

Ram, I'm sorry but the process does not work that way. To get CVS access you
will have to find someone with CVS access to vouch for you first.

And to get someone to vouch for you, you will have to prove your abilities. At
the moment you haven't reported a single bug, no bugs are assigned to you and
you haven't attached any patches yet.

I would recommend that you file bugs on those topics that you want to work on.
Then submit patches and get them checked in. Then come back here and apply for
CVS access again, after you have gained some trust in the community.

Ram: If you are still interested in contributing, you should do what Simon
recommends in his comment. I will keep this bug open and give you a chance to
