Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; YPC 3.0.0; SV1; .NET CLR 1.1.4322) Build Identifier: E-mail Client: Mozilla Thunderbird version 1.0 (20041206) Client OS: Windows XP SMTP server: webmail.register.com, port 25 I am successfully receiving all of my e-mail messages using Thunderbird client on my XP system. However, I can not send any message through my SMTP server. I am getting a "The server may be unavailable or is refusing SMTP connections." after successfully connecting with my webmail.register.com SMTP server. My e-mail client (Thunderbird 1.0) is timing out too quickly (~ 20 seconds). I need a mechanism to change the timeout interval for sending a message. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Compose a message. 2.Use an SMTP server that is overloaded and fails to respond (after a connection has been established via a successful logon) for a long time. This time should be greater than Thunderbird client's timeout setting). 3.In debug mode, logon to the SMTP server but wait 20 seconds before sending the message. Actual Results: Received a "Sending of message failed" message. Expected Results: Give me a preference setting to tweak the timeout interval for an SMTP send before Thunderbird client times out.

email from reporter: > Albert, thanks for fixing the bug. How did you fix it BTW? Let me know. It wasn't me who fixed the bug, I just noticed that bug 189363 which might be, according to comment #1, a duplicate of your bug got fixed. > I generally stay away from installing the nightly builds. I can totally understand you, even though it's a pitty because we don't know, if you have exactly the same bug as bug 189363 > When will the next big version of Mozilla/Thunderbird ready for download? http://www.mozilla.org/projects/thunderbird/roadmap.html should help you
