Build Identifier: Mozilla 1.8a6 win32

After installing the Mozilla 1.8 alpha the program couldn´t find my direct
connection to internet using the same settings as all my previous Mozilla
versions (1.5 , 1.6 , 1.7, ...). I tried to use the proxy server of our
university ( preferences \ advanced) and this server can´t be found either.

After reinstalling Mozilla 1.7 it worked both ways.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Use direct connection to Internet using LAN (10MBit)
2.
3.

Actual Results:
An error occured. "Check spelling of www.mozilla.org" or "Check your proxy settings

Expected Results:
it should have established the connection
Summary: can´t establish internet connection → can't establish internet connection
Works for all others, so it is no blocker.

Do you have a firewall which blocks access to the internet if the program is
unknown or changed? Perhaps the firewall allows mozilla.exe, but checks the CRC,
so a new version is blocked again.

Do you have to use a proxy or not?

See http://www.mozilla.org/projects/netlib/http/http-debugging.html for
some ideas concerning establishing Internet (HTTP) connections.
Please reopen if properly configuring your proxy or firewall does not fix this.
