280894 - Japanese typing gets messed up after Select All then Delete

It's possible to get form widgets into a state where you can't type any more
characters.

Steps:
Go to www.yahoo.co.jp
Set your keyboard layout to Katakana
Type some characters (like "honda"), but don't hit return
Type Command-A to select the text (note that it doesn't appear to be possible to
select it with the mouse).
Hit the Delete key to delete the text.
The text field is emptied, but you can't type any more characters. In debug
builds, there's an assertion down in editor:

Patch in bug 182783 contains the fix for this.
