User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-CA; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0
Build Identifier: Mozilla 1.8a6

Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8a6) Gecko/20050111

Upon opening Mozilla and going into the Preferences dialog box, when you hover
your mouse over any radio buttons or checkboxes, the buttons blank out and stay
blanked out randomly.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Run Mozilla 1.8A6 from the command line (full path)
2.Goto Edit --> Preferences
3.Move your mouse over the checkboxes and the radio buttons
Actual Results:
Some radio buttons/checkboxes stayed blank, some returned to normal.

Expected Results:
Checkboxes and radio buttons should return to their white background as opposed
to black.

I tried this in Firefox, and it doesn't seem affected by this. My system is a
stock Slackware 10 install, on an AMD Athlon XP 2800+ (Barton), 512mb of ram,
and an Asus motherboard. I can give more details on hardware if necessary. I
should mention that I have the stock Mozilla 1.7 (build 2004061813) installed,
and that I installed 1.8 in a separate directory. Mozilla 1.7 doesn't appear to
show any signs of this bug.
Version: unspecified → Trunk
Any idea when this first appeared? Is this a GTK1 or GTK2 version of Mozilla?
This seems to have happened when I downloaded and installed Mozilla 1.8a6 (GTK2)

Mike
Any chance of narrowing it down futher using nightly builds from
ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/ and http://archive.mozilla.org/ ?
Sure, I just need a few days, i'm just trying to fix a botched Slack 10.1 install :(
This is an automated message, with ID "auto-resolve01".

This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that
bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are
highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code.

While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we
are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce
this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a
copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and
you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug
(given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more
reproduction information if you have it.

If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not
changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved.
Thank you for your help in this matter.

This seems to be a problem in Core as it affects Firefox and Thunderbird, too. Seems to be Gtk related.

Still an issue for Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051111 Firefox/1.5

It's a very annoying UI bug which is regressed since 1.0.x. But it's too late now to be solved for 1.5. :(

Not only the preferences panels are affected. All mentioned gtk widgets are showing the same behavior.
Summary: Upon opening Preferences dialog box, checkboxes and radio buttons blank out when you hover the mouse over them → Inconsistent hovering for checkboxes and radio buttons when entering/leaving with the mouse
Still visible in my cvs trunk build Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9a1) Gecko/20051112 Firefox/1.6a1
Version: 1.8 Branch → Trunk
I now tested many nightly builds of firefox on linux (from http://archive.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/nightly/), now my result:

The last version without this bug seems to be http://archive.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/nightly/2004-09-14-10-trunk/firefox-i686-linux-gtk2+xft.tar.gz .
The first version where I can find this bug is http://archive.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/nightly/2004-09-15-10-trunk/firefox-i686-linux-gtk2+xft.tar.gz .

This should be the first place to look for the problem. I'm going to bed now, good night...

PS: It would be very nice to fix this bug before any stable version of Firefox 1.5 or Thunderbird 1.5 comes out, or even SeaMonkey.
From looking at the Bonsai logs for the regression range, maybe bug 241070 caused this?
Could very well be... There's no way this is getting fixed for 1.5, at this point, though. :(

bryner, any idea what's going on here?
